Singing of Vande Mataram from Red Fort will be historic moment for country: Shinde

Date:

MUMBAI: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday said the singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ from the Red Fort would be a historic and proud moment for the country.

He was reacting to the Union Home Ministry’s announcement that for the first time at the Independence Day function, Vande Mataram will be sung from the ramparts of the Red Fort.

“‘Vande Mataram’ is not merely a song or slogan, but an inspiring sentiment deeply connected with the history of India’s freedom struggle and the sacrifices of countless freedom fighters,” Shinde said, speaking to reporters after attending the ‘BRICS Friendship Cities Conclave 2026’ held in Mumbai.
