With the aim of promoting menstrual health and hygiene awareness, Sanskar Ujjawal Foundation successfully organized a special awareness campaign under its Early Menstruation Awareness Programme (EMAP) at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Naraina. The initiative reached more than 1,000 adolescent girls, equipping them with scientific knowledge on menstrual health, hygiene, and self-care. The campaign was designed to empower young girls with accurate information and encourage them to manage their health with confidence and dignity.
During the awareness sessions, participants were educated on a wide range of topics, including the menstrual cycle, physical and emotional changes during adolescence, busting myths surrounding menstruation, menstrual hygiene practices, infection prevention, the correct use and timely changing of sanitary pads, safe disposal of menstrual waste, preparing an emergency period kit, and the importance of period tracking for better reproductive health.
One of the key highlights of the programme was the open and interactive environment that encouraged students to ask questions freely and discuss their concerns without hesitation. The sessions helped create a safe learning space where menstruation was addressed with scientific understanding, respect, and confidence.
Mrs. Malti Verma, Member of the Delhi Commission for Women, attended the programme as a special guest. She appreciated the initiative and encouraged students to prioritize health, hygiene, and education while emphasizing the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation.
