New Delhi BJP chief Harsh Malhotra wields organisational expertise, close ties with RSS

NEW DELHI: The newly appointed president of the Delhi BJP, Harsh Deep Malhotra, is a seasoned organisational leader with strong ties to the RSS, party leaders said on Thursday.

Malhotra, 62, is currently the only Union minister from Delhi in the Modi Cabinet. He succeeds Virendra Sachdeva, who completed his three-year term in March this year.

BJP national president Nitin Nabin appointed Malhotra, who belongs to the Punjabi community, to lead the party’s Delhi unit. He officially assumed his duties at the Delhi BJP office at 2.30 pm.
